This is a fantastic opportunity for a Site Agent to join the Ringway Jacobs Team in Bedfordshire. The successful candidate will manage the construction phase of scheme works across the Client Portfolios and External Clients.
The Role
- Effectively lead and manage the construction phase of Central Bedfordshire Council and external client schemes.
- Provide input into buildability during design phase. Resolve construction issues for design team members and provide advice where necessary.
- Coordination between the design team and the build team during the project start up.
- Work with the Commercial team in the development of Target Costs.
- Develop, manage and ensure compliance with the agreed scheme programmes.
- To promote safe working practices in accordance with Ringway Jacobs Health & Safety Policy and to lead by example demonstrating commitment for zero incidents
- Instigate pre-start meetings with all sub-contractors that will be carrying out the works
- Development of Construction Phase Plan and review of supply chain partners’ risk assessments and method statements.
About You
- Ability to engage and conduct effective negotiations with client, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties
- A comprehensive understanding of highway maintenance and works
- Understanding of the NEC3 form of contract and its application within Highways Works
- A detailed understanding of Health & Safety legislation
- CITB Site managers safety training scheme (SMSTS Managing Safety) or equivalent
- HNC Civil Engineering or equivalent preferable

The role will include the proactive interrogation and management of data collated from various sources / systems, assisting with the annual business planning process, validation of the data used in the calculation of performance and productivity, preparation and presentation of reports and generally supporting the business with performance improvement. There will also be opportunities to support both Internal and External audits, process mapping and promoting continual improvement. The Role
- Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc performance reports and dashboards in line with business requirements / deadlines.
- Interrogation, analysis and validation of the business performance data for calculation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and productivity.
- Identifying and assisting on the management of risk associated with the delivery of projects / services.
- Driving / closing out business improvement actions / non-conformances and initiating performance improvement plans in areas where performance issues are identified.
- Driving Internal and External Audit programme delivery.
- To support policy/strategy development and delivery of social value initiatives to support the client and business objectives.
About You
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Organised and able to meet deadlines
- Excellent report writing skills
- Ability to produce information in a well presented and digestible formats - Strong academic background, ideally in an analytical/ statistical discipline.

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor is required to provide support to the Senior QS in managing all Revenue works within the remit of Cheshire East Highways Term Maintenance Contract, with particular focus on Task Order management, Early Warning and Compensation Event administration, Application and Account support to Finance and Subcontract Accounts. This role will involve close cooperation and collaboration with both the Revenue team focusing on Contract communications administration and support to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. A key element of this role will be subcontract management and ensuring compliance to subcontracting processes, evaluating applications and recommending certificates for payment.

Ringway Jacobs are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Cad Technician to join the ITS team in Chelmsford. The successful applicant will have a strong analytical ability and ideally experience in a working design office. The purpose of the role is to prepare design drawings for ITS schemes.
Working with the team leader, senior engineers, engineers and other graduates, the role will see the applicant deliver their work to agreed programmes and budgets. The role requires good communication skills, including written and verbal, which will be essential in the preparation of engineering drawings.
The Role
- Undertake the production of 2D technical drawings using specialist CAD software, such as drawings for feasibility, consultation, Traffic Signal Approval, construction (target costing) and as-built drawings.
- Use vehicle tracking software to check highways design layouts.
- Interpret designs/sketches submitted by team members.
- Produce high quality and accurate design drawings.
- Plan and organise CAD work to deliver to programme, tracking progress of CAD work for each scheme.
About You
- Experienced and proficient in the use of Autocad software for the creation of drawings in a highway design environment including bolt on packages KeySIGNALS, KeySIGNS, KeyLINES, AutoTRACK.
- Conversant with digital electronic mapping and topographical surveys and ability to interrogate 3D topographical models.
- Experience and proficiency in using AutoCad in a Highway Design environment.
- Valid UK Driving Licence due to occasional site visits

The Highway Ganger will be responsible for delivering traffic management, general planned and reactive highway maintenance repairs, out of hour’s response and winter maintenance works across Central Bedfordshire Highways.
The Role
- Installation, maintenance and removal of Traffic Management to sector scheme standards, facilitating highway maintenance works.

- Completion of daily record sheets and associated documents on a tablet.

About You
- Lantra12 D M1,M2,M5 and M6 minimum.
- Desirable Lantra 12A+B.
- Minimum of 2 years highways maintenance experience.
- HGV Class 2 license and Valid CPC.
- Winter Maintenance NVQ.
- General highway maintenance knowledge and experience (reinstatement, patching etc).
- Valid NRSWA
